Celebrating Innovation in South Boston: Iron Works Project
Last night, the energy was palpable at the Castle Island Brewery as we dove into the transformative Iron Works project in South Boston. It was a privilege to join the ULI Boston YLG group for “Forging the Future: Placemaking at Iron Works,” where industry leaders like Leah Harsfield from National Development, Adam Romanow, Castle Island Brewing Co., and Mark Partin, B/SPOKE Studios shared insightful perspectives on this ambitious redevelopment.
🏗️ Spearheaded by National Development and AEW, Iron Works is reimagining South Boston by blending the area’s rich industrial heritage with contemporary design and functionality. This project encompasses over 625,000 sq ft of life science space and 50,000 sq ft dedicated to vibrant retail and restaurants, creating a lively community hub.
🌟 A special shoutout to Adam Romanow who hosted us in his historic space in the very heart of the project site. Thank you to Dave Litwin, Catherine Sobchuk, PE, Ty Bieber, and J. Catherine Rollins from the ULI YLP leadership for organizing such an enlightening event. Your efforts in fostering a dialogue around sustainable urban development are truly inspiring.
Iron Works is not just a development; it’s a resurgence of community, history, and forward-thinking in one of Boston’s most storied neighborhoods. As we celebrate these milestones, we’re reminded of the power of collaboration and visionary planning in crafting spaces that enrich lives and boost local economies.
